Walters Gets July's Top Pitcher Trophy
Monday, August 1st, 2011: There's something about a young rookie winning the Triple-A Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with P.J. Walters, a 26-year-old starter for the Oakland Hornets.

In July, he topped off the month with a 5-0 mark and 2.72 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 43 innings, fanned 33 and held opposing teams to a .210 average.

To this point in the season, Walters shows a 8-1 record, 16 starts, 105 innings, 83 strikeouts and a 3.34 ERA.
Laird Picks Up Best AAA Batter Honors for July
Monday, August 1st, 2011: When Brandon Laird stepped up to the plate in July, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Triple-A Batter of the Month award.

The young Oklahoma City third baseman posted a .390 batting average with 13 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 29 runs. Laird also worked pitchers for 7 walks to post a .417 on-base percentage.

For the season Laird has hit .317 with 30 home runs and 96 RBIs. He has played in 99 games and scored 74 times.
